A Day in the Life: Pilot Season, Alloy Entertainment Style

I run Alloy Entertainment’s television division. Our offices are located on the Warner Brothers studio lot in Burbank, California. Superman (aka Tom Welling from Smallville) has an office right next to ours.

I am presently in the thick of post-production for our ABC pilot, 666 Park Avenue, which is based on the Alloy Entertainment book of the same title by Gabriela Pierce.  After spending a month shooting all over NYC (Lincoln Center, The High Line park, The Ansonia building) we are back in LA and have been locked in a small and dark editing bay for the past few weeks. The coolest part of producing television is also the toughest and that is making decisions…about EVERYTHING! I get to weigh in on all aspects of our shows from story and character to locations, set design, casting, and wardrobe. (Which Alexander McQueen dress should Vanessa Williams wear in the scene at Lincoln Center? The white one, of course.) This weekend we have our research test, will lock our picture, and finish up picking all the music – one of the songs we are using is The Rifle’s Spiral from the new Shins album.  We deliver our first cut to the network next week – fingers crossed!

Gina Girolamo is the Senior Vice President for TV at Alloy Entertainment. Gossip Girl is her favorite show on TV and she can’t resist a fresh baked cookie – chocolate chip with a little sea salt, please. The two songs she can’t live without right now are: “Somebody” by Goyte and “Back for More” by White Rabbits.

    About Theo

Pop culture is not just Theo's obsession, but her profession as well. A conspiracy theorist at heart, this Greek gal is constantly on the look-out for horcruxes and is still trying to make sense of Lost Season 6. All in all, she enjoys freshly brewed iced tea, ancient poetry, and Whedonverse. Follow her musings on entertainment at @theodorag13.
