Much like New York City, New Orleans has served as a Mecca for writers. From Kate Chopin to William Faulkner to Anne Rice, literary minds and artists worldwide have always been drawn to this decadent city known for its lush bayous, balmy weather, oak alley plantations and crawfish etouffee. As an aspiring writer myself, I’ve been itching to visit New Orleans to get a satisfying taste of Southern living and Creole culture, and perhaps stumble upon an adventure or two that I could later draw inspiration from. So you can imagine my utter excitement when I was asked by AE’s editors and teen.com to journey down to “Nawlins” to visit the movie set of Beautiful Creatures! My job is already awesome with all the red carpet interviews, phone interviews with up-and-coming bands, and daily articles focused on Pretty Little Liars and The Vampire Diaries — so to be able to travel to such a glorious and historically-rich location and get an exclusive peek at a riveting new film was pretty much the cherry on top.
Although I’m not at liberty to discuss specifics about the set visit quite yet (shh — top secret info), I did snap plenty of photos as I walked around French Quarter, rode the trolley, and alongside the Mississippi river soaking in all the delicious, delightful sights! (FYI – no crocodiles were spotted!)
Strands of shiny, colorful beads were strung up in all the shops and across flea market stands!
