Ian Somerhalder plays Damon Salvatore on the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries. As the elder of two smoking hot vampire brothers who share a long and bitter history, Ian is remains a viewer favorite. In fact, he was awarded a 2011 Teen Choice Award for “Choice TV Actor Fantasy/Sci-Fi” and a 2010 Teen Choice Award for “Choice TV Villain” for his portrayal of Damon.
Ian is well known for his role as Boone Carlyle on the ABC drama Lost. He starred on twenty-seven episodes total and won the 2005 SAG Award as part of “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.” The show was also nominated for the 2004 Golden Globe Award and the 2004 People’s Choice Award. Ian returned to “Lost” for several episodes during its sixth (and final) season.
Moreover, Ian has also starred opposite James Brolin in the Sci Fi Channel’s Lost City Raiders, which premiered to record ratings. He also had a prominent role in Marco Polo playing the title character opposite Brian Dennehy and B.D Wong. Some of Ian’s other film credits include starring in The Wake, Sensation of Sight, Pulse, The Rules of Attraction, Life as a House, Changing Hearts, and In Enemy Hands.
On stage, Ian starred in the off-Broadway rendition of Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, an “unauthorized parody” of Charles Schulz’ comic strip “Peanuts” that follows the travails of a grown up Charlie Brown and the original gang as their beloved beagle dies. Ian co-starred with Eddie Kaye Thomas, Eliza Dushku, America Ferrera, Ari Graynor and Logan Marshall-Green.
Ian’s other television credits include HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me, the TV movie Anatomy of a Hate Crime, a leading role in The WB series Young Americans, and guest starring roles in CSI, CSI: Miami, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Smallville.
